Medina County Economic Development Corporation proudly announces...

On December 30, 2010 the Medina County Port Authority (MCPA) issued $14.4 million in bonds to fund the construction of a 144-strand fiber optic loop that will provide 151 miles of broadband transport services throughout Medina County, with extensions into Akron and Cuyahoga County.

Championed by MCPA Board member Jim Gerspacher, the bond issuance culminates nearly a decade’s effort to bring a publicly owned fiber network to Medina County. Gerspacher said, “The neutrality of the network’s services will encourage competition for broadband services in Medina County and lower costs to users.”
