Medina County Fiber Network - WCPN news telephone interview
June 16, 2010 - The Medina County Port Authority is moving forward with an ambitious plan to build a 151 mile fiber optic loop around the county - making broadband service available to businesses, schools, and governments that have never had that capability.  The county commission somewhat reluctanly* agreed to serve as a financial backstop for the plans which insures construction will begin by summer's end.  The project goals are expansive but necessary, according to Medina County Economic Developmnt Corporation Director Bethany Dentler.  Listen to the interview here.

*In the effort to remove any confusion on the lead into the interview with Bethany Dentler about the Medina County Fiber Project, the vote to support the project was not reluctant, Commissioner Steve Hambley and Commissioner Sharon Ray positively voted to support the project  with conditions and with the participation of the municipalities. Medina County Economic Development Corporation, Medina County Port Authority and the Medina County Fiber Project Committee sincerely thank Commissioner Hambley and Commissioner Ray for their support.
