Rob Peters, City of Wadsworth, certified Economic Development Finance Professional

On January 23, 2008, Rob Peters, Assistant Director of Public Service for the City of Wadsworth, received certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) from the National Development Council (NDC). This certification is a designation given to individuals who successfully complete an intensive economic development finance training series that is conducted by the NDC. These courses provide individuals working in the field of economic development with training in credit analysis, real estate financing, loan packaging, deal structuring and negotiating and the creation and implementation of development programs.

Each of the four required courses is five days in length and ends with a written review that must be passed before a certification candidate is allowed to continue in the EDFP program. When a candidate has completed the entire four-week series, a comprehensive examination is given.

The New York based National Development Council was established in 1972 and is a private non-profit corporation, which specializes in economic and housing development training and technical assistance.

Mr. Peters was hired by the City of Wadsworth in February of 2004, as the Assistant Director of Public Service and serves as the City’s Economic Development Director. He leads the City’s business retention and expansion effort and manages the State of Ohio economic development tax incentive programs at the local level. He has 15 years of public management experience and also served in the United States Army and the Ohio Army National Guard. His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Resource Management from Slippery Rock University and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Akron. He and his wife Julie reside in Wadsworth with their two children.
