MEDINA COUNTY UNIVERSITY CENTER NAMES DIRECTOR

The University of Akron Friday announced the director of the Medina County University Center
Susan Louscher, of Uniontown, will fill the position pending approval of the university’s board of trustees, Akron University Senior Vice President ant Provost Elizabeth Stroble said in a statement.

“We are very pleased to have an individual with (Louscher’s) work force and business development background step into this critical role,” Stroble noted. “I am sure she will lay the necessary groundwork for success.”

Louscher was formerly assistant director of continuing studies and community development and assistant director of workforce development at Kent State University’s Tuscarawas Campus, a press release states.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Akron University and a master’s degree in international security policy and international science and technology from George Washington University.

Louscher’s responsibilities as director will include establishing relationships with local businesses and industry, creating recruitment pathways, developing curricula, forming policies and working with committee members to develop a marketing plan.

Louscher will divide her time between offices in Medina and on the university’s downtown campus until the center opens in fall 2007.

The university is in charge of construction, which will begin in July and will include a 30,000 square-foot, three-story building. The building will be made of the same red-brown brick, stone and glass that comprise the building recently added to the university’s main campus.
